Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on April 19, 1973.
The new arms combine the eagle of the arms of the Krumbach district, with the pale and bends of the old arms (see below).
The arms in the Deutsches Wappenmuseum |
The previous arms were granted on September 27, 1962.
The arms are mainly based on the arms of the Counts of Burgau, who owned the largest part of the district until 1301, when it became an Austrian possession. In 1805 the area became part of Bayern and the Bavarian colours are used for the base of the shield. The base shows the Donau river, which runs through the district.
Literature: Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
