Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on January 28, 1963.
The arms are a combination of the arms of the Lords of Seinsheim (pales), who ruled part of the district in the Middle Ages. The unicorn is taken from the arms of the Kanton Steigerwald of the Free Knights in Franconia. This area is also part of the district. Finally, the areas around Iphofen and Bibart were owned by the bishops of Würzburg. The lower part of the arms shows the arms of Würzburg.
Literature: Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
