SOTTMAR
State : Niedersachsen
District (Kreis) : Wolfenbüttel
Incorporated into : 1974 Denkte
German | In Blau unter einem goldenen Sparren eine goldene Sonne. |

Origin/meaning
The name Sottmar means 'southern place' and the sun is therefore seen as a canting symbol. The chevron is seen as a roof and thus refers to the second part of the meaning of the name.
The colours are those of the Duchy of Braunschwig, to which the area historically belonged.
