Origin/meaning
The arms were granted in 1952 and were newly devised, as no older arms or seals of the municipality were known. The arms show the wheel of Mainz, as the municipality belonged to the State of Mainz for many centuries. The jug is a symbol for the pottery, an typical industry in the municipality.
