WESTERWALDKREIS (WW)
State : Rheinland-Pfalz
Additions : 1974 Oberwesterwaldkreis, Unterwesterwaldkreis
German | blazon wanted |
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on February 2, 1976.
The lower part of the arms show seven basalt pillars, symbolising the volcanic origin of the Westerwald, which can be found in seven municipalities (Verbandsgemeinden) in the district. The jug in the upper part symbolises the formerly important pottery industry in a large part of the district. The green bend symbolises the green character of the district.
