In Blau ein roter Zinnenturm, im offenen goldenen Torbogen auf grünem Dreiberg eine schwarze Henne mit rotem Kamm und Lappen.
Origin/meaning
The arms were first mentioned and were granted at the same time as the city rights in 1562. The arms show in the gate the canting arms of the Counts of Henneberg (hen's mountain). The city was for many centuries part of the County of Henneberg. The gate itself symbolised the new city character of Kaltennordheim.
In the 1920s and in 1984 the arms were shown in a similar composition, but different colours, see below.
