ELMSTEIN

State : Rheinland-Pfalz
District (Kreis) : Bad Dürkheim
Verbandsgemeinde : Verbandsgemeinde Lambrecht

Wappen von Elmstein/Arms (crest) of Elmstein
Official blazon
German blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on January 6, 1937.

The arms are base don the oldest known seal of the village, dating from 1772. The meaning of the hooks, a type of hook used in forestry, probably indicates that the village was surrounded by forests and that forestry was of great local importance. The meaning of the stars is not known.

Literature: Debus, 1988
