Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on May 17, 1990.
The chevrons in the upper part of the arms symbolise the former territory of Hanau, to which the area historically belonged. The orb in the lower part of the arms symbolises the County Bornheimer Berg. This county had developed from a free imperial estate, hence the use of the imperial orb as the symbol. The above arms were chosen from a series of four designs. All designs were based on the main shield of Hanau. Three designs had in the base a small addition; the orb as above, or the eagle of Frankurt (either complete eagle, or the head). The fourth showed the Hanau shield with a bend, on which a sword was placed.
The designs form 1990. |
