SCHEIBE-ALSBACH

State : Thüringen
District (Kreis) : Sonneberg
Incorporated into : 2013 Neuhaus am Rennweg

Wappen von Scheibe-Alsbach/Arms (crest) of Scheibe-Alsbach
Official blazon
German In Blau ein steigender goldener, silberbewehrter Löwe, belegt mit einem silbernen schräglinken Wellenbalken; dieser belegt mit fünf schwarzen Scheiben.
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on July 11, 1994.

The lion is taken from the arms of the Counts of Schwarzburg, to whom the village belonged for several centuries. The wavy bend is a canting element for the two villages Alsbach (bach-brook) and Scheibe (Scheibe=disk). The disks also refer to the target of the shooting in biathlon, which is a popular sport in the area.
