HEINSBERG
State : Nordrhein-Westfalen
District (Kreis) : Heinsberg (until 1972 Selfkantkreis)
Additions : 1969 Aphoven, Laffeld, Schafhausen, Unterbruch, 1972 Karken, Kempen, Kirchhoven, Oberbruch-Dremmen, Randerath, Waldenrath
Origin/meaning
The arms were confirmed on October 2, 1974 after the merger with the other municipalities, but are much older.
The arms show the lion of the Lords of Heinsberg. Heinsberg received city rights in the middle of the 13th century and all seals and arms since show the two-tailed lion of the Lords of Heinsberg.
Seal from around 1900 |
The arms by Hupp in the Kaffee Hag albums +/- 1925 |
