Wappen von Grosslangheim/Arms (crest) of Grosslangheim
Official blazon
German In Rot der wachsende, silbern gekleidete und golden nimbierte Heilige Jacobus mit einer goldenen Muschel in der Rechten und einem goldenen Wanderstab in der Linken.
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on May 9, 1961.

The arms show an image of the patron saint, St. James the Elder. The saint already appeared on the oldest seals of the town, known since 1547. The present image is similar to the seal of 1633. The colours, which were not historically known, are the colours of the arms of the Counts of Castell and the State of Würzburg, the first ruled the town until 1447, after 1517 the town became a possession of Würzburg.

Literature: Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
