Origin/meaning
The oldest seal of Lauf dates from the early 19th century and shows in the upper part the arms of Baden, and in the lower a grapevine rising from a beaker. The next seal, dating from around 1870 shows only a (Prussian) eagle. In 1880 the municipality used a seal with the present arms. The arms were officially adopted and the colours were defined in July 1900.
