COUNTY HANAU
German | blazon wanted |
English | blazon wanted |
Origin/meaning
The County Hanau was a county largely located in the present-day German state of Hessen. It existed as an independent territory from 1243-1736 when it was split among Hessen-Darmstadt and Hessen-Kassel. Capital was the city of Hanau.
The arms show three chevrons, taken by the 13th century counts and used ever since for the territory.
