Heraldry of the World Civic heraldry of Germany - Deutsche Wappen (Gemeindewappen/Kreiswappen) |
NASSENFELS
State : Bayern
District (Kreis) : Eichstätt
Additions : 1971 Meilenhofen, Wolkertshofen
Official blazon
Über silbernen Wellen in Gold nebeneinander drei rote Felsen, deren mittlerer mit einem aufrechten, wachsenden silbernen Bischofsstab belegt ist.
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted in 1466 by Wilhelm von Reichenau, Bishop of Eichstätt, as the city at the time was a part of the State of Eichstätt. The arms are canting, showing a rock (Fels) above water (Nass=wet). The crosier is the symbol of the State of Eichstätt. The colours are also those of the State of Eichstätt.
