HERSCHDORF

State: Thüringen
District (Kreis): Ilm-Kreis
Incorporated into: 2019 Großbreitenbach

Wappen von Herschdorf/Arms (crest) of Herschdorf
Official blazon
German In Blau ein goldener Hirsch auf einem silbernen Berg schreitend, links oben begleitet von drei (2:1) silbernen Lindenblättern.
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on July 15, 1994.

The deer is taken from the older seal of the village and is a canting element, the name of the village means deer-village. The deer stands on a small mountain, symbolising the local Langen Berg. The three leaves symbolise the three villages in the municipality as well as the agricultural character of the municipality.

The blue and silver colours are derived from the arms of the Counts of Schwarzburg, who ruled the area for many centuries.
