HAUZENBERG

State: Bayern
District (Kreis): Passau (until 1973 Wegscheid)
Additions: 1978 Oberneureuth (partly), Wotzdorf

Wappen von Hauzenberg/Arms (crest) of Hauzenberg
Official blazon
German In Rot ein steigender silberner Wolf.
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The wolf is derived from the arms of the State of Passau, to which the village belonged for many centuries until 1803. The wolf already appears in 13th century seals of the town.

The colours of the arms were changed in the 19th century, to distinguish the arms from those of Passau, Obernzell, Perlesreut and other towns in the State of Passau.
In 1835 the council mentioned that the lion was placed on a blue shield, the colours of Bayern, but this was not continued.

Wappen von Hauzenberg/Coat of arms (crest) of Hauzenberg

The arms by Hupp in the Kaffee Hag albums +/- 1925
