Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on July 4, 2011.
The blackthorn branch in the upper half is a canting element, the name is derived from the old Slavic Dransky, meaning branch or stick. At the same time the blackthorn is a very common plant in the area. The ship is the historical "Posthornett" ship, symbolizing the shipping line between Dranske and Ystad in Sweden, operational since 1684. The division line refers to the coastal position of the municipality.
