Origin/meaning

Grezhausen was a small village, first mentioned in 1147 and from 1245-1806 a possession of the Cistercian convent in Günterstal. From 1818-1936 it was a separate municipality. As the village was very small, it had no seals or arms. In the 19th century a seal with the letters GH was used.

In 1895 the arms were devised and granted. The arms show the chequered bend of the Cistercian Order, wit a golden field instead of the usual black field. The gold is taken from the arms of Baden. The escutcheon shows the G from the seal.
