Wappen von Penzing (Oberbayern)

Official blazon

(de) In Gold zwei schräg gekreuzte rote Schlüssel, belegt mit einem senkrecht gestellten blauen Schwert.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on August 12, 1965.

The two crossed keys ar ethe symbol of St. Peter and are taken from the arms of the Benedictan Convent in Wessobrunn. The convent owned large possessions in the area from 1141-1803. The sword is the symbol of St. Martin, the patron saint of Penzing. The sword also refers to the military airport in penzing, which was founded in 1934 and still exists.
