BARNTRUP
State : Nordrhein-Westfalen
District (Kreis) : Lippe (1972-1992 Detmold, until 1972 Lemgo)
Additions : 1969 Alverdissen, Sonneborn, Selbeck, Sommersell
Official blazon
(de) Von Gold und Silber gespalten. Vorn ein roter, halber achtstrahliger Stern und hinten eine rote, halbe, fünfblättrige Rose mit goldenen Butzen und Kelchblättern am Spalt
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted in 1971.
Barntrup received city rights in the first half of the 14th century. The oldest seal is known since 1370 and shows the star of the Counts of Sternberg, surrounded by eight roses of Lippe. During the 16th century the star and rose were combined and in the early 17th century they were flipped horizontally.
