Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on August 15, 1911.
The arms symbolize the industrial character of the city. The only historical seal showed a canting hare (Hase) and a scythe, probably indicating agriculture. The scythe is taken into the new arms, the hare is replaced by miner's tools and a wheel.
Seal from around 1900 |
