LENNINGEN

State : Baden-Württemberg
District (Kreis) : Esslingen
Additions : 1975 Gutenberg, Oberlenningen, Schlattstall, Schopfloch, Unterlenningen (1939 Brucken)

Wappen von Lenningen (Württemberg)

Official blazon

(de) In Blau über von Schwarz und Gold schräg gerautetem Schildfuß ein in Form einer Acht geschlungener silberner Lindenzweig, von dem beiderseits je drei silberne Blätter ausgehen.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on August 15, 1977.

The base of the arms shows the diamond pattern taken from the arms of the Dukes of Teck, who owned the region in hostorical times. The upper half shows symbolised linden branches, which were taken from the arms of Gutenberg and Unterlenningen. They also are a canting symbol, the name may have been derived from Lendi, or linden. The twisted branches also symbolise the unification of the former municipalities.
