KRUFT
State : Rheinland-Pfalz
District (Kreis) : Mayen-Koblenz (until 1969 Mayen)
Verbandsgemeinde : Verbandsgemeinde Pellenz
Official blazon
In Rot die heilige Maria in blauem Mantel mit goldener Krone, das Christuskind auf dem rechten Arm haltend, beide mit silbernem Nimbus, auf goldener Mondsichel stehend, von goldenem Strahlenkranz umflossen.
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted in 1950.
The arms are based on the oldest known seal of Kruft, which dates from the 15th century. The village was a possession of the Maria Laach Abbey since 1093 and the local seals thus showed the image of the H.Madonna, the patron saint of Maria Laach. Since 1689 the village belonged to the State of Trier (until 1803) and the colours of the arms are thus derived from the colours of the State of Trier.
