State : Bayern
District (Kreis) : Cham (until 1973 Roding)
Additions : 1946 Regenpeilstein; 1971 Braunried, Fronau, Kalsing, Mitterdorf, Neubäu, Obertrübenbach, Strahlfeld, Trasching, Wetterfeld, Zimmering; 1978 Altenkreith
Official blazon
In Rot ein stehender, silbern gerüsteter Mann mit Helm, der in der Rechten eine silberne Hellebarde mit goldenem Schaft, in der Linken einen senkrecht gestellten silbernen Fisch hält.
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on December 13, 1432 by Duke Johann of Bayern. The arms have not changed since, except for the colours. The present colours have been used since around 1850.
The knight most likely symbolises a defender of the city during the Hussite wars in the 15th century. The fish is a canting element, it is described as a Rötel.
The arms by Hupp in the Kaffee Hag albums +/- 1925 |
