HOHES KREUZ
State : Thüringen
District (Kreis) : Eichsfeld
Additions : 1991 Bischhagen, Mengelrode, Siemerode, Streitholz
Official blazon
(de) In Blau ein silbern bordiertes rotes Kreuz, belegt mit einem silbernen sechsspeiehigen Rad auf der Kreuzstelle und je einem silbernen Eichenblatt in den Balken.
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on December 10, 1997.
The cross (Kreuz) is a canting element. The four oak leaves refer to the four former municipalities as well as the Eichsfeld district. Also, some of the municipalities used oak leaves in their seals. The wheel is the symbol of the State of Mainz, to which the area historically belonged.
