BRUCHHAUSEN-VILSEN

State : Niedersachsen
District (Kreis) : Diepholz (until 1976 Grafschaft Hoya)
Additions : 1928 Bruchhausen, Vilsen

Wappen von Bruchhausen-Vilsen

Official blazon

(de)

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1928 when the towns of Bruchhausen and Vilsen were combined. The arms were already used by Bruchhausen and are based on the oldest known seal of the town, dating from 1551. The arms show in the right half a bear's claw, derived from the arms of the Counts of Hoya. The left half showed the arms of the local Counts of Bruchhausen.
