Origin/meaning
The arms were adopted on September 17, 1986.
The arms are based on the arms of the medieval Lords of Stemshorn, see image below. Both the two eel-forks and the colours are derived from the arms of the family.
To distinguish the arms from those of the family, a canting horn was added.
