Origin/meaningThe arms were officially granted on February 15, 1993. The oldest known seal of the city dates from 1553 and shows two towers with in between a small unclear symbol, most likely a rose. The towers probably indicate the fortified character of the town. Later the above arms developed with the canting rose and a scythe, taken from the arms of the Lords of Strehla.
