Origin/meaningThe arms were officially granted on January 23, 1936. Bredsted was mentioned as a town in 1510 and the oldest known seal dates from the late 16th century. The seal already showed a bridge and some waves. All later seals and images have shown the same composition, but the size and shape of the bridge have changed considerably.
