Origin/meaningThe arms were granted on April 20, 1972. The arms were originally granted by the Archbishop of Köln at the granting of city rights in 1636. The cross in the arms is the cross of the State and diocese of Köln. The orb is said to be a symbol for Princess Richeza of the Pfalz, who gave the village to the bishops of Köln in 1056.
