Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on January 17, 1990.
The three haselnuts (Haselnüsse) are a canting element. Hasels are also very common in the area. The blue bar is a canting element for the second half of the name -au, as Haselau means "the Hasels near the floodplains".
