Origin/meaning

The arms were never officially granted.

The arms combine the arms of the Counts of the Mark (checquered bar) with a chain derived from the arms of the former Lords of Boenen, who ruled large part of the area in medieval times.

The arms are now used of the Bezirk Pelkum of the city of Hamm.
