Origin/meaning
The arms were granted in 1938.
The small bars in the arms are derived from the medieval Knights of Hundem. The two deer antlers are a symbol of the many deer in the forests. The hook is a local farming symbol and symbolised the agricultural character of the area.
The following municipalities belonged to Amt Kirchhundem :
- Heinsberg
- Kirchhundem
- Kohlhagen
- Lenne
- Oberhundem
- Saalhausen
