Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on February 27, 1976.
The base of the shield symbolises the Bodensee, Germany's largest lake on the border with Switzerland. The wheel is derived from the arms of the Lords von Markdorf and Raderach. At the same time it also symbolises the present industry in the district.
