Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on February 18, 1955.
There are no historical seals of the village known with any heraldic devise, only with the name of the village. Therefore it was decided to take the eagle of the arms of the medieval Lords of Essershausen as village arms. As the colours of these arms were not known, the colours of Nassau were chosen, as the village was ruled for centuries by the Counts of Nassau.
