HEUVELLAND
Province : West-Vlaanderen
Additions : 1976 Dranouter, Kemmel, Loker, Nieuwkerke, Westouter, Wijtschate, Wulvergem
Official blazon
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on December 10, 1986.
The red bar is taken from the arms of the Waasten region, to which all the former municipalities, except Loker, belonged in at the end of the 18th century. This region was owned in the 12th century by the Péronne family, Lords of Dendermonde. To distinguish the arms from those of Dendermonde an escutcheon with the arms of Horne was added. The Counts of Horne owned Loker from 1400-1783.
