The arms were granted on April 25, 1938.
The arms show in the right half the eagle of the Counts of Arnsberg, as the area historically belonged to the Arnsberg County and later to the State of Köln. The left half shows the arms of the Lords von Weichs, who ruled the village on behalf of the Bishops of Köln for a very long time.
