Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on March 26, 1955 and again on January 8, 1975.
The arms show in a quartered field symbols for the former rulers of (parts) of the territory. The first quarter shows the arms of the Lords of Siersberg, the second a crosier for the Fraulautern Convent, the third shows the cross of the State of Trier and the fourth the arms of the Lords Von Hagen zur Motten.
