WERLTE

State : Niedersachsen
District (Kreis) : Emsland
Additions : 1972 Bockholte, Ostenwalde, Wehm, Wieste
Samtgemeinde : Samtgemeinde Werlte

Wappen von Werlte/Arms (crest) of Werlte
Official blazon
German

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on ??-??-????.

The arms are based on the arms of the Corvey Abbey, which ruled the Hümmling region in which the municipality is situated (a divided shield of red and gold). The upper half shows a megalithic grave, one of the many that can be found in the Hümmling. In Werle the largest of these in Germany can be found, the Hoogen Stainer. The base shows a cogwheel for the industry in the municipality. The five spokes refer to the five villages Bockholte, Ostenwalde, Wehm, Werlte and Wieste.
