Origin/meaning
Heideck was founded around 1288 by the Lords of Heideck, who had already built their castle near the village around 1250. The arms already appear on the oldest seal of the city, dating from 1320. The arms are identical to the arms of the Lords of Heideck, and have not really changed since. The only change took place in the 17th century when the two halves were exchanged. In the late 17th century the old arms were restored.
