DINGELBE

State : Niedersachsen
District (Kreis) : Hildesheim
Incorporated into: 1974 Schellerten

Wappen von Dingelbe/Arms (crest) of Dingelbe
Official blazon
German blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms are based on the seal from 1334 of Konrad von Elvede. The original name of the village was Elvede and the Von Elvede family probably originated from the village and became extinct in 1383. The name Elvede was changed in the 14th century to Ding-Elvede, to distinguish the name from another village Elvede. The prefix Ding, or meetingplace, was added as in 1232 a major court of the diocese of Hildesheim was held.
