Wappen von Wörth an der Donau/Arms (crest) of Wörth an der Donau
Official blazon
German Unter einem roten Schildhaupt mit silbernem Schrägbalken in Silber auf grünem Dreiberg drei grüne Sumpfpflanzen.
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on January 3, 1977.

Wörth received city rights in 1471 and the oldest seal dates from the same time. The seal already shows the above arms. The chief shows the silver bend in red, the arms of the State of Regensburg, to which the area belonged until 1803. The lower half probably is canting, the name Wörth means a high place near water.

In the 17th and 18th century the seals showed St. Peter, the patron saint of Regensburg as supporter behind the shield. In the late 17th century the reeds in the base were shown as trees, in the 19th century these were transformed into pine trees, as shown below by Hupp in the 1920s. In the early 20th century the old arms were restored.
