BOMBACH

State : Baden-Württemberg
District (Kreis) : Emmendingen
Incorporated into: 1971 Kenzingen

Wappen von Bombach/Arms (crest) of Bombach
Official blazon
German In Gold aus blauem Wellenschildfuß wachsend eine grüne Staude.
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were adopted in 1900.

The arms show a branch of an undefined plant, the meaning is not known. The oldest use of a seal for the village dates from 1607. The seal shows the arms of the mayor of the Kürnberg Estate.

In 1700 the village has its own arms shown on the seal. It shows a divided shield, with on the first half a plough iron in the upper half and the plant in the lower half. The other half shows the arms of Austria, as the area formed part of Austria at the time.
The third seal dates from 1750 and shows the letters BB, a star and two branches. In the late 18th century the arms showed only the branch, but the arms now showed a crest with a torso of a man, holding the branch and above the shield the letters BB. The same composition was also used on the seal in the 19th century.
From this seal the above arms were designed.
See image below for the late 18th century and 19th century seals.
