RILCHINGEN-HANWEILER

State : Saarland
District (Kreis) : Saarbrücken
Amt : Amt Kleinblittersdorf (until 1974)
Incorporated into :1974 Kleinblittersdorf

Wappen von Rilchingen-Hanweiler/Arms (crest) of Rilchingen-Hanweiler
Official blazon
German blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on July 18, 1969.

The arms show in the upper part a crosier, symbol for the Tholey Abbey, which ruled the Wölferdingen Estate to which the villages historically belonged. Later the area became a possession of the Counts Von der Leeyen, whose arms (a silver pale) are shown in the upper left quarter.

The base shows a fountain, symbolising the foundation of the spa on the local salt-spring by Countess Marianne von der Leyen. The two layers of the fountain symbolise the two villages.
