RETTENBACH AM AUERBERG

State : Bayern
District (Kreis) : Ostallgäu
Incorporated : from 1978-1994 Stötten am Auerberg

Wappen von Rettenbach am Auerberg

Official blazon

Durch eine Wellenlinie schräg geteilt; vorne eine goldene Rosette auf Schwarz; hinten ein roter Wellenbalken auf Silber.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on March 18, 1996.

The black and gold, as well as the rosetta are taken from the arms of the Ottobeuren Abbey. In 1167 the village was given to the Abbey by Ulrich von Frechenried. The Abbey remained owner of the Rettenbach estate until 1280.

The red wavy bend refers to the nam Rettenbach (from Rotenbach, or red stream). The colours are also those of the Diocese of Augsburg, which acquired the estate in 1453.
