Selected collector's items from Germany:

STÖTTWANG

State : Bayern
District (Kreis) : Ostallgäu (until 1972 Kaufbeuren)
Additions : 1971 Gennachhausen, Linden, Reichenbach, Thalhofen an der Gennach

Wappen von Stöttwang

Official blazon

Geteilt; oben in Rot ein sechsstrahliger goldener Stern, unten in Blau ein wachsender goldener Abtstab; auf der Teilungslinie schräg gekreuzt ein silberner Palmzweig und ein gestürztes silbernes Schwert.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on August 4, 1976.

The red and blue colours are derived from the arms of the Kemptem Abbey, which had many possessions in the area until 1803. The golden star is taken from the arms of the city of Kaufbeuren, as the city had the lower jurisdiction in the village. The sword and palm leaf are the symbols of the local patron saints, Gordianus and Epimachus. The crosier is taken from the arms of the local priest, Johannes Martin Klein, who founded the local parish church.
