Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on November 9, 1971.
The arms were newly designed and show the initial of the town, made up of four villages (former municipalities and Friedrich-Wilhelms Hütte). The T is shown as a molecule, indicating the importance of the chemical industry for the municipality (compare also Bergkamen)
