Origin/meaning
The arms show the local church above a city wall. These arms are based on the oldest known seal of the city, which dates from the late 13th century. Mellrichstadt received city rights in the early 13th century. The first known use as arms and the colours are known since 1544. The colours changed in the 19th century to blue and silver, the colours of Bayern. Since the late 19th century the historical colours were restored.
