Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1563 by Friedrich von Wirsberg, Bishop of Würzburg and confirmed on December 16, 1966.

The arms show St. Vitus (Veit), the patron saint of the town. The meaning of the stars s not known, they may have been used as an older village symbol. The arms had become obsolete in the 19th century, but were restored in the middle of the 20th century.
