Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on November 2, 1938.

The arms are based on the late 18^th century seal of the village The origin of the arms is not known, although it has been stated that the arms were designed by Prinz Philipp von Hessen as a canting element (Stier should have been derived from Stern or Gestirne, meaning stars or star-constellation). The colours are those of the State of Mainz, to which the village historically belonged.
